World Pediatric Project’s Treasures in Paradise
The World Pediatric Project held its 3rd Annual Treasures in Paradise at Old Warson Country Club, Friday, January 24, 2014. Treasures In Paradise provided a capacity crowd of supporters an evening of fun and festivities, and it also engaged them in their own life-changing experiences-one of helping to heal children in need of critical surgical care.
The event involved a luxury vacation and wine auction. Guests had the opportunity to bid on incredible vacation packages like the Villa Vannucci, Sonoma, California; Sailing in the Grenadines; Great Exuma, Bahamas; Rocina, Mustique; and Ladera, St. Lucia. Closer to home, other packages featured Lake Tahoe, Homewood, California, Snowmass Colorado and the Ship’s Inn, Nantucket. For those who wanted to chill nearby, the large format wine auction offered premier selections from Tamber Bey, Silver Oak, Fleury Estate Winery, Hall, Cliff Lede Vineyards, Frank Family Vineyards, Vineyard Twenty-Nine, Signorello Estate, Paoli’s Vineyards, and Chanticleer Estate Wines.
Geography should not determine why a child lives or dies. Regardless of culture or geography, children create the love that inspires parents. They become the glue that connects families and the source of a community’s hope. Most developing countries still lack the access to pediatric critical care resources, especially surgical care, leaving parents without a way to help their sick children. Through its programs, the World Pediatric Project treats children suffering from birth defects, illness, and injury while empowering local medical communities to care better for their children.
Last year, WPP brought 80 children to St. Louis and the Richmond area for critical care and sent 40 medical missions to its partner countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, healing hundreds of children.
