The St. Louis Regional Chamber hosted its 178th Annual Event, an informative and entertaining program at the Peabody Opera House, Wednesday, September 16, 2015. The Chamber celebrated the region’s achievements, creating tomorrow together by inspiring a greater St. Louis.
Hundreds of St. Louis business, civic, higher education government and startup company leaders came together to recognize St. Louis Innovators for the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Annual Event 178 – Creating Tomorrow Together, presented by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
Highlights from Annual Event 178:
• Presentation of the Right Arm of St. Louis to Dr. Donald M. Suggs, President and Publisher of the St. Louis American. Dr. Suggs received the honor reflecting a lifetime of advocating for equality, improving access to health care and higher education, bringing African-American artistic endeavors to St. Louis, and his mentorship of young leaders across the region.
• Announcement of Stadia Ventures, the first startup accelerator in the nation focused on early stage sports-related companies. Stadia introduced its inaugural cohort and will make an equity investment of up to $100,000 in each of the four companies. These companies are locating from across North America to this new St. Louis accelerator.
• Formation of the Spirit of St. Louis Ventures, an economic impact enterprise which will invest in venture funds, loan funds and enterprises aligned with the Chamber’s One Plan.
• Highlights of the Chamber’s public policy priorities to support Forward Through Ferguson, the recommendations of the Ferguson Commission.
• Creative rendition of St. Louis Blues, blending traditional and contemporary instruments.
• Thanks to CityArchRiver 2015, a first-time showing of the Dream Wall which will be installed in the new museum at the Arch Grounds.
