Mercy Health Foundation invited guests to discover “Love Makes the World Go Around”, Saturday, February 14, 2014, at the Renaissance Grand. Nearly 800 attended to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the 11th Annual Mercy Masquerade, which raised $765,000. The funds will support charity care programs and help expand preventive dental services at Mercy JFK Clinic.

The themed gala, “Love Makes the World Go Around”, took guests on an adventure around the globe to Italy, France, Germany, and Ireland. At each stop during the cocktail reception, guests enjoyed local flavor with hors d’oeuvres and drink pairings. Exclusive Events transformed the Renaissance Grand’s Ballroom and Prefuction Area into an international odyssey with amour present everywhere. After an elegant three course dinner, guests witnessed a surprise, live ice carving from Ice Beat (creating what else, LOVE) before dancing to Groovethang.

Anne Allred, Allen Allred, and Babette and Dr. David Meiners co-chaired the event. Spotted among the crowd included Thriess and Lynn Britton (CEO, Mercy Health), Lauri and Jeff Johnston (president of Mercy Hospital St. Louis), Donn Sorensen (president of Mercy East Region) with Alicia Deck, Dr. Stephen and Jackie Sanders, Darryl and Villajean Jones, Tom adn Chris Eschen, Bola and Dr. Benjamin Akande, Bill and Marsha Rusnack, Peggy and Jerry Ritter, L.B. and Bonnie Eckelkamp, Drs. Elizabeth and Paul Stroble (Webster University), Tony Sansone, Judge Jimmie and Stacy Edwards, Sr. Claudia, and Patty Arnold.

In fulfillment of Mercy’s mission, all proceeds from the 11th Annual Masquerade will extend outstanding medical care to uninsured and underserved patients at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. This year’s event will expand preventive adult and pediatric dental care at the Mercy JFK Clinic.

Over the past 11 years, the Mercy Masquerade has raised more than $5.7 million, which has made a significant impact on Mercy’s ability to provide exceptional health care to uninsured and underinsured members in the community.

The event’s success would not have occurred without the generous support of the sponsors. Mercy Health Foundation would like to thank all its sponsors, especially the John H. Purnell Foundation, Clayco, McCarthy, Thompson Coburn LLP, and the Centene Charitable Foundation.
