The Little Bit Foundation hosted its signature event, “Join the Journey”, Saturday, October 23, 2015 at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. With the theme “Touching Hearts, Feeding Souls”, the annual gala, Little Bit’s largest fundraiser, celebrated the many loving people who support its vision, its impact on the St. Louis community throughout the year, and the precious young souls it serves. The evening featured cocktails and dinner, musical performances by Brian Owens and the Confluence Academy-Old North choir, a live auction of experiential packages and live music and dancing…with a Motown sound!

Heidi Glaus, KSDK’s “Show Me St. Louis” host, welcomed the guests and introduced Brian Owens and the Confluence Academy-Old North choir, who gave a stirring performance. After dinner, remarks followed by Rose Hanley, executive director, and Jeffrey Rhone, Director of the Office of Family and Community Engagement, St. Louis Public Schools. The 2015 Big Heart Award went to two long-time, loyal supporters of the Little Bit Foundation, past board president Suzie and J. Andrews and Bob and Casey Jones.

The oral auction focused on diverse destination packages from a trip to Bachelor Gulch, Colorado to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Vancouver to Whistler, British Columbia. Closer to home, bidders could turn to Gateway Motor Sports or a St. Louis sports package. A Fund-the-Need preceded guests unwinding to the music and dancing of Boom, who “Touched Hearts and Fed Souls” with the Motown sound.

Founded in 2001, The Little Bit Foundation (www.thelittlebitfoundation.org) works to provide for the basic needs of disadvantaged children in the St. Louis area by partnering with local schools. The organization serves 6,000 elementary and middle school students in 20 St. Louis area schools to break down the barriers of poverty on a child’s ability to enter the classroom confident and ready to learn. Its presence in the schools, working one-on-one with each child, combined with providing 81,316 necessities, such as clothing, undergarments, shoes, coats, hygiene kits and emergency food items, creates a positive impact for personal growth, increases self-esteem and encourages a more focused, active learning environment.
