Laumeier Sculpture Park presented Laumeier Now: A Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, July 2, 2015 to commemorate the recent completion of the new Adam Aronson Fine Arts Center. The 150 guests, among the first to experience the new building at the exclusive fundraising event, attended an outdoor cocktail reception with live music in the new Public Plaza, followed by a seated dinner and dessert by Butler’s Pantry inside the Adam Aronson Fine Arts Center. The live art auction, facilitated by Garth’s & Selkirk Auctioneers & Appraisers, spotlighted works by local, national and international artists including Carmon Colangelo, Mark di Suvero, Sam Durant, Tom Huck, Raqs Media Collective, Gigi Scaria and Marie Watt.

Event proceeds will support Laumeier’s presentation of temporary exhibitions, education programs, public events and sculpture conservation. The Adam Aronson Fine Arts Center will open to the daily public in October 2015, displaying Laumeier’s fall exhibitions, Raqs Media Collective: If the World is a Fair Place, Then… and Zlatko Ćosić + Ashley McQueen: Harmony in 3, the 2015 Kranzberg Exhibition Series.

Laumeier Sculpture Park combines a living laboratory where artists and audiences explore the relationship between contemporary art and the natural environment. Founded in 1976, Laumeier comprises one of the first and largest dedicated sculpture parks in the country, making it an institution of international significance as well as a unique complement to the cultural landscape of the St. Louis region.

Laumeier, a nonprofit, accredited art museum, operates in partnership with St.Louis County Parks. Programs are supported by the Regional Arts Commission, Missouri Arts Council, the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.Laumeier presents 60 works of large-scale outdoor sculpture in a 105-acre park available free to the public year-round, and serves 300,000 patrons annually through temporary exhibitions, education programs, public events and sculpture conservation.
