More than 150 guests attended Laumeier Sculpture Park’s Annual Carts + Cocktails fundraiser, Saturday, September 26, 2015. Carts + Cocktails, a progressive party as unique as Laumeier itself, invites attendees to cruise through the Park in golf carts and visit several stations. The event’s proceeds support Laumeier’s presentation of temporary exhibitions, education programs, and public events.
The guests began their journey at the Ferring Family Foundation Museum Lawn, sipping cocktails by Square One Brewery & Distillery and watching a special dance performance in the trees surrounding the lawn featuring Holly Seitz Marchant and David Marchant. Next, they traveled to Beverly Pepper, Cromlech Glen, 1985 where they savored creative treats by Butler’s Pantry and enjoyed live music from the Bottoms Up Blues Gang. The final stop occurred at the Adam Aronson Fine Arts Center to hear the Well Hungarians and participate in a silent auction that included experiences in the Park and throughout the St. Louis Community.
Laumeier Sculpture Park reflects a living laboratory where artists and audiences explore the relationship between contemporary art and the natural environment. Founded in 1976, Laumeier constitutes one of the first and largest dedicated sculpture parks in the country, making it an institution of international significance as well as a unique complement to the cultural landscape of the St. Louis region. Laumeier, a nonprofit, accredited art museum, operates in partnership with St. Louis County Parks. Programs are supported by the University of Missouri-St. Louis, the Regional Arts Commission, Missouri Arts Council and the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis. Laumeier presents 60 works of large-scale outdoor sculpture in a 105-acre park available free to the public year-round, and serves 300,000 patrons annually through temporary exhibitions, education programs, public events and sculpture conservation.
