Once again, the Saint Louis Zoo’s Young Zoo Friends held their biannual summer party, Jammin’ at the Zoo. This popular mid Summer event, themed Lions and Tigers and Beers and Wine, occurred on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

Brandon Hentze and Hope Hunt co-chair the Jammin’ at the Zoo parties in 2014. Presented by Macy’s, other Jammin’ sponsors consisted of the Mid America Chevy Dealers, Fox2 and KPLR 11, Riverfront Times and Y98. Net proceeds from the bash benefit the Zoo and its efforts to save endangered species at home and around the world.

The Tasting Packages included the wine and beer tasting, available between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Wine by the glass and bottle, beer, soda and frozen specialty drinks also could be purchased until 9:30 p.m.

4 Hands, Augusta, Beam Suntory, Bronco, Carriage House Imports, Crown Valley, Delicato Family Vineyards, Jackson Family Wines, Pernod Ricard Wines, Schlafly, Schmitt Sohne, St. James Winery, Terlato Wines, Winesellers LTD all contributed libations to sample.

Much like last year, guests could dip their hands in the warm saltwater pool at Stingrays at Caribbean Cove, presented by Mercy, to get up-close-and-personal with cownose rays, southern stingrays, plus bonnethead and white-spotted bamboo sharks.

Spanky’s Dueling Pianos, Laser Panther and Dirty Muggs provided the live music.

The Young Zoo Friends comprise a group of professionals in their 20s and 30s who support the future success of the Zoo through volunteer, fundraising, educational and social opportunities.
