Carnevale Veneziano returned in 2020 to the Mad Art Gallery on Saturday February 22nd!

This year proudly featured the art of Evelyn Astegno, and her series of 10 masterpieces entitled MASQUERADE, rococò inspired paintings of Venice and its famed Carnevale!  Astegno was born and raised in Vicenza, a town outside Venice in northeastern Italy. After graduating from the University of Venice, she moved to St Louis where she has been a resident artist and curator at Third Floor Gallery on Washington Avenue. She has had numerous works on display at art galleries in the U.S. and Italy.

Venetian style masquerade masks were strongly encouraged and worn as prizes were awarded for the three best masks. Colorful cocktails and a photo booth was provided by PURUS VODKA, (a Made in Italy and local STL owned organic vodka).

An exquisite dinner was  prepared by culinary artist Ron Buechele followed by music and entertainment. Wine, beer and an open bar was included in the purchase of an adult ticket. This event is made possible by a joint collaboration of the Italian Community of St Louis, the St Louis – Bologna Sister Cities, and CLUB Italiano Per Piacere.
