The Doctors of the Danis Pediatrics Center of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center invited the public to join them for the 2nd annual Glennon Gallop, Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Kräftig Polo Club, Defiance, MO. Everyone gathered in their “Whites and Khakis” to attend this benefit polo match.

The VIP’s attending could bid on the silent and oral wine auction, led by Tony Bommarito, Sr. of A. Bommarito Wines. The auction included exotic wine excursions in Napa Valley, Oregon along with exciting raffles and live music. Everyone enjoyed a fun-filled affair with delicious foods, great friends and an exciting polo match featuring renowned polo player and Ralph Lauren front man  Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras.

“Nacho” Figueras was born in Buenos Aires and plays on an Argentine professional team. As of 2009, he is ranked as one of the top 100 polo players in the world. He plays in Argentina and in the U.S. as part of the Black Watch Polo Team. He became the face of Ralph Lauren’s Black Label in 2005 and by 2009, represented the entire line of Polo fragrances.

In anticipation of his visit to St. Louis, “Nacho” commented that he looked forward to  “meeting the many supporters of Cardinal Glennon who will join me at this wildly popular match. It is a true honor to be able to play in the Glennon Gallop, alongside my teammates, who will engage in a friendly competition for all the sick and injured children who will benefit from the day’s events.”

Fifth Third Bank presented the Glennon Gallop with additional support from A. Bommarito Wines, St. Louis Polo Club, Fabick CAT, Mathew’s Kitchen, Bittersweet Artisan Truffles, Kräftig, SSM Health Care, Sauce Magazine, Kenrick’s Meats and Catering and Frank’s Auto Body Inc. According to Shawn Hagan, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bank in St. Louis, “We were thrilled with last year’s success. Having Nacho at the Gallop this year only built on the momentum and energy this event has generated in just its second year. It was a spectacular day and all for a great cause.”
