The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County hosted the 50th Annual Crystal Ball at the St. Charles Convention Center, Saturday, February 7, 2015. This golden anniversary had a few new changes and twists, including the venue, to celebrate this special occasion to  benefit the programs offered by Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County.

The guests arrived to a silent auction/reception before sitting down to a three-course dinner, highlighted by golden iced cupcakes for dessert. The live auction featured several unique items like Falconry-the Sport of Kings, a Firework party at your home or other establishment, a real live Cajun Crawfish Boil, a Rock Around the Clock Party Bus, and an adorable puppy that someone could not resist. After a splendid dinner and successful auction, guests kicked their heels to the sounds of Arvell and Company.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Charles County is enabling all young people, especially those who need the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. It has proven a challenging, yet positive, quest that is confronted directly with life-changing programs and a trained, dedicated staff.

The Clubs are opened every day during after school hours, throughout the summer, and during school breaks, when kids find themselves the least supervised and the most vulnerable. They are given structure and opportunities to learn to act responsibly. They are offered a variety of programs and activities that change attitudes and behaviors, instill confidence, develop character and emphasize the importance of an education, all in a fun, safe, supportive environment.

For years, the Boys & Girls Clubs have focused on delinquency prevention by providing a safe place to “hang out” and have fun. While still doing so, today’s Boys & Girls Clubs have expanded its attention on three priority outcome areas: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship.
