The St. Louis Regional Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) recognized outstanding philanthropic leaders in the metropolitan St. Louis community, Thursday, November 12, 2015, at America’s Centre, Downtown St. Louis. The awards luncheon and celebration, the 35th anniversary of National Philanthropy Day, revolved around the theme Inviting Hope Into Our Community.

National Philanthropy Day honors the profound impact philanthropy has on the fabric of society. Each year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) awards individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have improved the quality of life for all people. The 2015 local recipients definitely embraced the theme, inviting hope into our community to make the St. Louis region a better place.

Betany Johnson-Javois, CEO of St. Louis Integrated Health Network, led the proceedings as the master of ceremonies. She orchestrated an event celebrating 35 years of recognizing vibrant philanthropy that has become the hallmark of the St. Louis community. She introduced the following 2015 list of individuals and organizations who lead by example through their exceptional generosity, time, dedication, passion, and support:

Outstanding Corporate Philanthropic Program – Cope Plastics, Inc.
Outstanding Youth In Philanthropy – Kayla Martin, sponsored by YouthBridge

Spirit of Philanthropy – David Jones
Outstanding Fundraising Executive – Lynn Raney
Lifetime Achievement Award – Patricia Barrett (posthumously)

Jim Schallom, Outstanding Young Professional, and Kayla Martin, Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, particularly reflect a positive trend in St. Louis philanthropy. Their spirit and commitment demonstrate why we have every reason to invite hope hope and a bright future into our community.

AFP constitutes the professional association supporting individuals responsible for generating philanthropic contributions to a wide range of non-profit organizations. Founded in 1960, AFP represents more than 31,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world. The goal of these member chapters is focused on advancing philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. The St. Louis Regional Chapter comprises the eighth largest Chapter internationally and one of the most active chapters in the United States.
