Assoication of Fundraising Professionals, St. Louis Chapter National Philanthropy Day

The St. Louis Regional Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) recognized outstanding philanthropic leaders in the metropolitan St. Louis community, Thursday, November 14, 2013, at America’s Centre, Downtown St. Louis. The event, the 33rd anniversary of the celebration tied into National Philanthropy Day, revolved around the theme Inspire, Collaborate, Motivate.

National Philanthropy Day honors the profound impact philanthropy has on the fabric of society. Each year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) awards individuals and groups who, through their hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy, their communites, and the world. The 2013 local recipients definitely embraced the theme, inspiring, collaborating, and motivating others to make the St. Louis region a better place.

Kevin Demoff, Executive Vice President of Football Operation and Chief Operation Officer, St. Louis Rams, led the proceedings as the master of ceremonies. He orchestrated an event celebrating 33 years of recognizing vibrant philanthropy that has become the hallmark of the St. Louis community. He introduced the following 2013 list of individuals and organizations who lead by example through their exceptional generosity, volunteerism, and commitment to philanthropy:

  • Dick Schul, Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer
  • Kate Lyford, Outstanding Young Professional
  • Ameren, Outstanding Corporate Philanthropic Program
  • Alexandra L. Quiroga, Outstanding Youth In Philanthropy
  • Bill and Amy Koman, Outstanding Philanthropist
  • Brett Schott, CFRE, Outstanding Fundraising Professional
  • Gary Dolllar, Lifetime Achievement Award 

AFP constitutes the professional association supporting individuals responsible for generating philanthropic contributions to a wide range of non-profit organizations. Founded in 1960, AFP represents more than 27,000 membes in 180 chapters throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China. The goal of these member chapters is focused on advancing philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. The St. Louis Regional Chapter comprises the eighth largest Chapter internationally and one of the most active chapters in the United States.
