On Friday the 13th of July the 13th Annual “Let Them Eat Art” – The Stars Have Aligned! filled the historic district of Downtown Maplewood with it’s whimsical tribute to Bastille Day! This means that everyone was welcome to take a self-guided adventure into live art, entertainment, music, food and drink along Maplewood’s historic Route 66 and Sutton Ave. There were over 50 artists on site to share, sell and create on the spot works of original art. Food and drink samplings could be found throughout the district.

At the main stage on Sutton headliner Hobo Cane featuring Javier Mendoza with an opening act by Farshid Etniko. The Opera Bell Band performed in the Sutton Loop Park, and St Boogie Brass Band, Ascoustik Element and Powerplay Band performed in other parts of the historic district. Performance artists from Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis, Artists First, St Louis Hoop Club, Aalim Bellydance Troupe, Hi Tadah Top, dream interpretation, and other spiritualists were on hand or giving readings at Mystic Valley. Many kids activities were also held in Sutton Loop Park.

Each year this festival grows and brings in not only great local artists, but wonderful visitors from all over the city, state, and beyond as word spreads of this family friendly event and of the rich heritage of historic Maplewood.
